I also haven't got around to taking out the driver/passenger side glass... I hope this isn't to difficult. The front and rear were simple.

Have you found any ugly surprises under the paint? It looks pretty straight and solid.

so you just leave it to straight bare metal and it dosent rust out
This is going to depend on where you live and the weather. If you're down in the hot and dry mid-west then I've seens cars at the bare metal sitting out in a field and they dont rust. I also watched the surface rust appear within 10 minutes after paint removal here in eastern Canada.

wow, that's pretty impressive, day and a half and you've already got about half the car done. Are you using anything to protect the metal once you've sanded it down????

refer to the thread about work shops. you'll see it in there .

its a 1930 model A. ive posted pics a few times before but i can put more if requested.

no i didnt put anything on the metal once i sanded it. i live in california so its dry and sunny outside. no rust .

and nope i didnt find anything unexpected under that orange peel. not much bondo either. the yellow bondo is what was there and the blue is mine.

i got the rest of my steering parts in today and put that all together. but tomorrow im gonna go to the mustang shop and get a flaming river steering box. right now i just bolted up my old one but hopefully it wont be hard to take it back off wthout removing all the tie rod ends and junk. i think at this point my steering/brakes/bodywork have more priority than my tranny and dyno session.

What's the advantage of the rolling wheel dollies? Why not just roll the car on its own wheels? Maybe I haven't been around enough but I have not seen those used before. I been using the blue bondo too. I like it better than the pink stuff. A little more expensive though.

i put them on the dollys for legit reasons.

1. none of my steering linkage was hooked up so to roll my car i had to turn 1 wheel at a time. pita.

2. we park the A in the garage too and that way i just "push" my car sideways and let the A roll right it.

my car was on its own wheels yesterday cause the A was on the dollys since the tires always leak flat in about a week. we will probably buy another set of 4 since theyre only like $10 each from harbor freight .
