it seems like there's a muscle car kid at every high school or at some(by reading these posts). do you guys get any crap from any tuner kids? Just wanna know cause there are some at my school that can't be serious (especially since i put some of em in their place when they wanted to try out their coffee cans)
Nope. They can't catch up to give us crap.
Here in small towns in North Texas, muscle is King. Ricers are scoffed at nobody takes them seriously. A year ago I was going to school just North of San Diego, and there was tons of rice. Often at the meetsI was the only muscle any of them had ever seen or run against, and respect for our classics went way up. Most of them wouldn't even race after they'd hear "6.7 liters of earth shaking V8 pounding the ground" as one guy put it.

haha one day when i was leaving school i had about a qtr. tank of gas left, or so my gauge said. Well i turned out of the school and just as i did this the car sputtered and spat and i had to pull off to the side. the car ran out of gas, in front of the school, when it was raining....hows that for embarresing...
lol yeah I had that one happen to me bout a week after I bought my '67. I worked at a small, city airport, so I walked back to the FBO, re-opened it and grabbed the keys for the fuel truck. I put like 3 gallons of 100LL airplane fuel in and drove to the nearest gas station to dillute that stuff!
are you serious? how did she run?
Really really really bad!!! And it smelled like a Cesna. It was on a mildly built 289, and I didn't wanna bother with bumping the timing. I've thought about doing the same thing again with my 408 and playing around with the timing, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Mine wouldn't start one night. I was parked in the Wendy's parking lot. Someone came to give me a jump and off it went.

Not too embarassing because when you have a classic with the hood open, people assume you are showing off!

I'm the only kid with a muscle car at my school, the rest are lifted trucks, brand new BMW's, Benz's and Audis, then there's the occasional ricer, only one STi (which has a coffee can BTW), quite upsetting really. The ricers have learned to stay away.[sm=gears.gif]

After I graduated HS, I went into the Navy and after I finished training(1.5 years)I came home on leave andbought a used '79 Cobra Mustang (First year for Fox body 5.0). That night I was in my hometown and went with a friend to a Pizza place. I met up with this girl that had been totallyunattainable (by me)while in High School. We got to talking and ate dinner together. I showed her my car and she seemed impressed and we decided to go out to a club, have some drinksand see where it all went. You got to understand I had wanted to date her for years, but it just wasn't happening while in school....here was my big chance. We got in the car and I started it up, and the smog pump chose that moment to seize up. When it locked up the fan belt squealed for a few seconds and broke.

She was no longer impressed with me or the ride and left with her friends while I towed my car to my friends shop and spent the night tearing a smog pump apart while drinking beer with my buddy. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Oh and BTW, in those days it was inconceivable that anyone would consider a rice burner as a performance car....I understand it now, but back then It would have been a HUGE joke.

Back when I was in HS in Vegas, my friend had a 66 I6 coupe that he had converted to a 302. He never drove it; the thing never ran right but it looked awesome. My other friend and I bugged him one night about taking it for a cruise out onto the Strip to check out the "scenery". Well, we made it to the Strip and the thing dies. It wasn't too embarrassing pushing it off the road, but what sucked was when his mom had topick us up in the "grocery getter", Reliant K station wagon with the simulated wood paneling. Cruising on the Strip in that thing with your friend's mom was the worst...

Mine wouldnt start after I pulled up and filled up on gas one day at a busy station.. So I bit my pride, pushed it out of the way and knew exactly what it was.. I had forgot to tighten down the dizzy and it went out of timing just far enough that it wouldnt start.. So I fixed it up right there with an adjustable wrench and went about my day..
