will a 351 cam fit in a 302? I think it will but I am not sure, I think you will just have to change to the 351 firing order.

A 351W cam will work fine, mechanically, in a 289/302 block as long as you swap the firing order. That said, a mild cam in a 351W is going to be a lot more aggressive in a 302. More displacement allows you to run a more aggressive cam without sacrificing driveability.

I think you'd be happy with the Comp Cams HE268H. It'll give you a mild lope at idle and you can probably get away with running that original Torker manifold(which is actually a really good manifold, and worth some money) with it until you can pick up a good dual-plane manifold. Some 1.7 roller rockers wouldhelp make better power without overloading your stock valve springs. If you want even more lope and less useful power, go with the Summit grind.

i think thats backwards, the summit cam actually idles really good and has great power up to around 5k...... but with what he's wanting he probably IS better with the thumper series - i believe the makea few different grinds for the 351 dont they? if so i'd just use the smallest one (and make sure the springs are up to the task)

Hmm, I forgot they use alarger LSA.So yeah, you're right.Slightly better idle, slightly more power down low, but it'll die off quicker. I'm really not a fan of their grinds. The Comp Cams grinds are designed for a much broader powerband. But....in this case, it may work out for him.

You want a lopey cam, get a Ford Racing B303 cam with 1.7 RR and you will be at around the same lift as an F303 cam. And you'll still get good performace out of the motor.

You should rethink the combination you are attempting to assemble, it's FUBAR.

450cfm carb, Torquer Intake, Stock heads, and an aggressive cam. This is a recipe for a turd.
