RE: what cam do i get?
Blackfoot, #1, get rid of the torker intake, get rid of the 450 cfm carb, if you plan on using stock valvesprings, if you want a lope or burble then use the comp cams high energy 260h or 268H, get a performer, performer rpm, better yet a action plus or stealth wieand manifold, use a road demon 525 annular carb with vac secondaries, 1 5/8 headers and 2 1/4 " exhaust.
The 260 cam will give a nice burble, the 268 cam will give a nice lope, as far as low end they are pretty much the same, they are easy on the valve train, are ground with a 4 degree advance built in installed straight up, have enough vacuum to run power brakes and able to use the stock converter. The only thing I would do is the 260h is fine with 3.00 gears, the 268h likes 3.50 gears better with a 302.
The 268h will pull about 15 hp more past 4500-5000 rpm, besides a lope thats about the only difference except vacuum will be slightly lower but still usable. Unless switching to a hyd roller dont go any bigger than that with a stock combo or else you will have a nice lope but be slower than you were stock. You CAN add 1.7 rockers and get a bit more power but then you need springs as well. With a 70 vert and a "stock 302" basically dont go any more than that or you will be real dissapointed. If it were me I would go the 260 high energy cam, if you want a cheap intake get a summit stage 2 or a proffesional products typhoon (same thing) an rpm knock off and work really well but definently get the 525 road demon (not jr) carb. That combo with a good ignition system and curve should give you nice power, sound and very good economy when you want it.

i dont understand. why in the hell would you ever want to sacrifice anything to look cool. this exactly what is wrong with the USA. screw what other people think about your car. if you want to get there attention strip your girlfriend when you pick her up and mount her to the hood.
there is nothing like a nice hood ornament to get that 17 year old ricers attention.

RE: what cam do i get?
lol you guys keep mentioning converters its a standard transmission.. which means i can shift gears with a clutch
i dont have a lot of money to throw around right now. but i have the enigne apart and im about to put it back together. i would rather do up the internals now than later. and change the intake and carb on a later day. right now it was about choosing a cam so i can get it together . get the sound i want. and finish it off later down the road.
lol about the 17year old coment i dont even need one. this v-tec eater alone makes them not even try. ahaha
but anywho back on topic.
i picked up a cranecams energizer 272 -h10 cam. came with lifters.i just gotta borrow my friends degree wheel and ill be installing it on the weekend. im kinda pumped!
this car doesnt see much mileage like at all.
