Default How to choose a distributor?

i am getting ready to assemble me freshly rebuilt 289. here is what did.

new carb (670 street avenger) vacuum advance
stealth intake
voodoo cam
valve springs
gasket matched head ports
port and polish heads
hedman jet coated headers
pypes stainless exhaust
a sweet ford sticker on my window
a fresh coat of rainX on the glass

i need to get a new distributor and coil. which one is the way to go? mallory, msd, summit. i see that the price varies a lot. there are different types of magnetic internals. can someone please clarify?

Thanks

i have the accel 52201 (summit tech dept. recommended it), i have been happy with it. I did have the chip in it go bad in less than a year but accel replaced it free of charge. I went with the accel super coil as well. If you get a electronic dist. make sure you get a low resistance coil to go with it.

crane is making the best dizzys available right now if you ask me. im too lazy to post a link, but if you look them up you'll see that they offer electronic advance curves and are absolutely badass.

btw, your 670 is too damn big for your 289 [8D]

What's wrong with your factory distributor? With a good electronic conversion and an advance recurve (which you'll have to do with a new distributor anyway), it works just fine.

And +1 on the carb.
