What are the best Shocks?
I need to get a whole set of shocks for my 73 Mustang, and I'm looking to get a set that has the best performance versus comfort. Any suggestions out there? Kyb Gas? Monroe Sensatrack? Summit dragshocks? Monroe Air Max? Lakewood?
Any advice would be great, thanks!

I plan doing the same within the next week or two, although I would rather go for comfort. I would hate to buy a new pair of shocks and find my ride height becomes completely off so I think iam going with an ajustable Kyb Gas. I just hope they offer a smooth ride.
i had tein flexs' on my supra but not like that counts for mustangs lol. currently i have 'grab a trak' stuff on it, whoever makes those i have no idea, cus i know it's not mustangs plus.

shocks adjust to the cars ride height not the other way round.
Adjustable is usually soft/medium/hard
+1 on Koni. Have adjustable konis there as well
I recently upgraded from KYB Gas-A-Justs to Edelbrock IAS's. KYB's are great performance shocks for the price, but they're going to be stiff. Don't expect a smooth ride out of them, or any high pressure gas shock for that matter.
Edelbrocks are amazing all around shocks. They offer a smoother ride than Gas-A-Justs, but they stiffen up on smoother surfaces to improve handling. They are expensive, but they're worth it.
Koni's are STIFF. Even on the softest setting, I'd recommend against them on a street car unless your roads are made of glass. They make a great adjustable performance shock, and they're designed to be rebuildable, but they're not ideal for the street, and they're expensive besides.

Koni's are the best in my opinion, I dont find them stiff at all unless you adjust them that way, I have a 67 vert, global west UCA's, roller perches, 620's with a coil cut off, a 408 stroker under the hood, original rear leafs (at the moment) my koni's are 20 yrs old with about 20,000 miles on them, the fronts are adjusted about half stiff, rears are about 2/3 stiff and the ride is very nice, its a little firm but very controlled but not stiff at all, kinda like a european car ride, I think overall my combo rides better than the stock setup, the biggest factor in ride on mustangs is rear spring rate, if you go too stiff in the rear the ride will suffer.
Koni's are probably one of the most expensive shocks made for a mustang (mine were 50.00 each wholesale back then) but they are great. Other wise I would choose the edelbrock IAS for the money, I have used them on quite a few different cars, or bilsteins, KYB gas adjust on a worn stock suspension are the best bang for the buck but with new springs or HD springs they tend to ride like a 1 ton truck, gas adjust front/ gr-2 rear seem to be decent though.
