Default Monte Carlo bar

I need to add a Monte Carlo bar to my old 65. No shock tower sagging yet that I know of, but just want to make sure the old girl doesn't sag inwards in the future. Does anybody know where I can get a used or really cheap one? You guys know I am cheap, so when I say cheap, I mean cheap. Yeah, I know......label me cheap Soaring.

If you can't find a used one on eBay, then you may as well just buy a new one from Dallas Mustang. They're pretty inexpensive to start with. A word of advice though: if you don't already have a one-piece export brace installed - wait until you can do both at once. One is not a whole lot of good without the other. And you'll need a front end alignment after installing either. May as well put them both in at the same time and have to spring for only one alignment. Together, you'll track staighter and more stable.

Yeah, I need to do both. Thanks for the advice. I need to get back to the farm and put the old girl up on stands to let the front end relax first, then deal with trying to get the export brace in first, then the Monte Carlo. I don't think I will have any issues with it, but one never knows on these old dinosaurs. I've read where guys had to put bottle jacks with 2X4's between the shock towers to get the Monte to fit. Anyway, it will be done this summer, one way or another. Oh, have you heard about the adjustible Monte that you can take out without having to unbolt it Some kind of quick release so you can work on the dizzy, etc. without the bar in the way? I may have to check into that as well.

When I installed my export brace, it kinda took me by surprise... It was delivered to me one evening and I wanted to see just how far off the fit would be. Y'know - just how much work would be involved. So I laid it in place and it seemed to line up pretty well. I removed a couple shock tower nuts to have a better understanding - but still not wanting to get into it that night. One thing lead to another, and before I realized it, I was bolting it up. It was installed in about half an hour, and the 'skeeters didn't even have a chance to eat me up!

Yeah, I don't forsee a big problem with the new one piece export brace. We don't have too many skeeters in west Texas, and if we do have flying critters they get zapped with the blue light thing.

Aaahhhh yes... The low cost and high excitement of outdoor entertainment in Texas! (When it's not high school football season, that is!)

I did that high school football thing as a high school band director for 18 years in Texas. No thanks, my tank is full.

I should really get a solid export brace and monte carlo bar as well, they make the car look better and they improve handling, but I dunno, I am the cheapo as well.

Welcome to the El Cheapo club Scratchy. But. as you and I both know, there just comes a time when we have to get out the old check book and divvy up. Well, this summer I guess I will just have to divvy up and spring for a new export brace and a new Monte Carlo bar. I think I will get the cheaper black painted one though. I am too cheap to spring for the chrome ones.

It would be better to go with a curved monte carlo bar than a straight one? I would imagine so, that way it wouldn't get in the way of your plugs and ignition?
