Default Brake handle removal

Here is an easy one for you vets...how do i remove the "black" brake handle only from the attaching rod. It looks like it hasa pin but not a screw i can remove. The brake handle is broken...it's doesn't look good...the parking brake works fine.

Pretty sure it takes a small alan wrench to remove the pin. Forget the size but its small. I removed the entire thing from ours and sold it. Putting a center floor (on the hump) e-brake instead.

While on the same topic, and not to steal the thread, but how do you go about removing the rod from the assembly? I need to put a new "front ebrake line" on it. There is a metal pin in the rod that stops it from pulling clear out when you set the brake, but I cant figure out how to remove that pin. Tried beating it out with a mini-sledge. Also thought it might be threaded so I tried to twist it with a pair of channel locks.

baddog.. sorry but when I removed mine the cable had already been cut from the PO. I just removed the whole thing and that was that. Never did look at it really as it wasn't going back on. However I just looked in the NPD calalog and they have a photo of the assembly (Page 52). The pin looks like it simply presses down into the rod. If you cant remove it I'd guess you could always drill it out and replace it either with a replacement pin or a small screw.

gcstang.. Same link to NPD above will show you a diagram of the assembly. As with Baddog.. if you cant get it out I guess you could always drill it out. The replacement handle NPD sells says that for 65/66 it comes with a replacement pin.
