what paint for engine block?
Hello
I am going to use semi gloss black por 15 to repaint my engine bay.
I have the engine out now and was wondering what paint I should use on the block?
I was thinking about painting the block and the aluminum parts like the timing chain cover and the intake the same color and I was thinking red.....I know your all fixing to poop a brick right about now but I think the red would be an awesome combination with the black. I have black valve covers and will have black accessories (alt, waterpump..ect) I think a nice red would indeed compliment the black.
So with that said what is a good paint to use for the block and intake that will not stain, oil safe, and can take the heat?
It is also going to be applied to the cast iron heads.
Sorry for not going with the blue block [sm=alcoholic.gif]

BAH! Blasphemer!:P Hehe. Sorry, red is too close to pink, which is a chevy engine color. I can't really see red going with your car's color scheme, either. I think the lighter ford blue color would go really well with everything else.
As far as paint goes, I'm pretty happy with the Plasti-Kote engine paint I used to paint my block. Three years down the road and it still looks pretty good. Duplicolor has a similar line of engine paints that I've heard works well too.

me personally would have gone with a blue block because ive done blue with black bolts and i thinck it came out ausome but dubicolor has high temp paint up too 1200 degrees F and i think they carry red
