Opinion
Hey guys I have inherited my grandpa,s 66 two door coupe That I have wanted since the day I could drive some 30 years ago Its a V8 car with a C4 factory under dash AC all original with 77000 miles. My question is would yall go back all original or what I have been thinking about is toa run a stout 347 and go back all original inside and out in other words a sleeper What to yall think ......Thanks
It all depends on what your purposes are for the car.
If you want to make it a daily driver and it is stock or nearly so, then a host of safety upgrades are in order. These can be discussed later.
If you want to restore it to original or restomod it as a show car and take it to shows on a trailer then that is a different purpose.
So what are your intentions?
And BTW, welcome to the forums and congrats on having an awesome grandpa!

Nice score on the car. My opinion is the same as Aussie's store the original block as 289s are getting harder to come by and build yourself a nice 347. But keep the paint and interior original or at least tastefull. I vote for original interior and color because I think these cars were the most beautiful they could ever be as they left the factory, but were lacking on performace. Original exterior + original interior + 450hp 347 stroker = wicked sleeper baby! oh-yeah!!! btw. a AOD or 5spd and some 4.11 gears backing up that 347 would be nice!
Well Thats just it I have this car and I also have 55 chevy two door post car also I,ve pretty much made up my mind on the 55 what to do Semi Pro Street I love the looks of a stock 66 but I also want something I can blow the tires off What would be cool is have the the stock wheels widened and run a bigger wider tire so the power could be put to the ground and run the factory hub caps. A real sleeper till I cranked it up
