Need to replace missing items & need help
HI everyone,
I sold my 1966 289 mustang to one of my employees. I had told her that the motor had been ceased from the previous owners running the car w/o oil. ( I guess oil light wasn't working).
Body and interior are in amazing condition. However, it now turns out that my ex had taken the transmission out when we purchased it4 years ago and it sat under a tree getting rusted and in worse condition than it was to begin with. Well, he gave it away since it was in such bad shape.
My dilemma is that since I didn't inform the person I sold it to that we didn't have the transmission - what do I owe back to her? I originally purchased for $3000, and all we did was remove the bad engine and transmission. Sold it to her for $2000. Feel like I already gave her a good deal, but don't want any hard feelings over this.
I'm obviously not going togive her backthe value of a new or rebuilt transmission. So what would be a fair monatary return to her since I didn't state up front that we didn't have the original transmission??
I'm currently trying to see if any of the local yards have a used c4 that I can buy to give her in replacement, but I have yet to hear from them. And I would think she would want to have a rebuilt tranny anyway, so it would make more sense to me to give her money towards a tranny that she would have had to replace ANYWAY.
Any suggestions/thoughts/ideas??
Thanks in advance!
Robyn

I see you are from Lynnwood wa. I am in Vancouver wa. I dont know how close you are to me but I am getting rid of my c4 for a 5 speed. It seemed to work when I pulled it out of my car. I only drove it a block down the street and back and it seemed fine.
