i dont really like the look of the fan that is run by the the engine. so i was going to put this on instead, if it fits, im not sure, but i think it will, if not ill go to the 12", but here is the link

Advantages, On my 71, i cracked my fan duct taking it off, To buy a new one was the same price as going electric. You gain a few HP with electric. But make sure you wire it correctly and that it has an adjustable thermostat. Some elctric fans can actually be loud, and most dont give as much flow as a engine fan at high RPM. Another + for electric is if your at the track, you can add a FAN only switch to cool the engine while it sits w/o running the engine. -Jon

the cfm on that fan is a little too low, try something around 2or 2200 cfm to be on the safe side. the more cfm the better itll cool. advantages of a electric fan are couple more hp, longer water pump life due to reduces stress on the bearings, cleaner look to the engine compartment, among others but most use em for hp gain. a really good and dirt cheap alternative is a ford taurus electric fan common in junkyards, these fans move tons of air more than enough to cool a nicely warmed over v8. and you can probably snag one for a song. making brackets to mount it can be a little tricky, but with the money youd save i dont think youll mind.

Do a autoloc search or hoffman group and look @ the SPAL fans and controllers not cheap but top of the line products.
Now do you want a push fan mounted from the front (more room to work on your motor ) Or pull fan from inside the bay.
I have twin 12" Spal fans on my (not stock) huge Alu radiator. I love them drops the temp very fast once they kick in @ 190 deg.

I have heard the Summit brand ones dont last very long btw but I have never owned any of those.

I often feel electric would be nice if for no other reason than to get the fatass mechanical fan outta the way.

elec fans do add performance, but dont buy the rated cfm ratings, spal is one of the closest true cfm ratings. You will see increased low end, midrange, and mpg's with an elec fan and quicker rpm's.
