Default Article on changing gear ratio...anyone interested ?

On seeing one ? We get alot more 8.8 than anything here even though most of the work here is classic. But most gear changes are the new stuff. If you guys wanted we could should you (when we get another in) how to do an 8-9in. Mag's only show a skim of what you need to do."Make sure the gears are set right' doesn't really help. Nor does a picture taken far away, help you on what you are actually looking for. Some tools will have to be borrowed from a buddies buddy to do it. But are you guys interested in something like this ?

Definitely interested. Right now I classify that as an "over my head" project that I would eventually have to pay someone else to do correctly. But perhaps watching would alleviate some nervousness.

Great idea, thanks.

Would be interesting to see a well documented howto on this yes. I'm looking at an Eaton Detroit Truetrac and adding new 3.40s or 3.55s to our 8" rear. From what I've seen it doesn't look like that much work but I've never done it before. Don't exactly know what extras are needed or how/if it affects anything else yet.

I would volunteer my rear end to get redone for the right price! LOL.. I still need to get out to you guys..

Are you going to the Sports Arena show/swap on Sunday? I picked up a flyer last week, classic/custom cars and vendors.. Should be pretty cool and I live right down the street..

Sure, bring me 3rd member, gears, install kit, and I'll give ya a good military discount if your serious. So did it end up working without the drop down bracket ?
Doubt it with the swap meet. Got 3 more turbo kits to finish. [:@]

Alright guys, wanna see the gear install, bug Booerschnot [8D]

LOL!!

Only if I can find a really cheap T-5 and standard bell housing to go along with it! I would jump to 3.55's in a heart beat!

And yea, I actually didn't need the drop down bracket, I had plenty of space with my Hookers for the ram to run back and forth.. So thanks for the suggestion. And you called it,, that certain shop did tell me that they wouldnt replace the brokendrop bracketI got from them.. What a crock.

Im coming over this weekend on Saturday.Hope you guys are around.. I was going to swing by last Saturday but you were closed due to the car show..
