Default Shelby Drop

Anybody have some tips for me before I start the Shelby drop? I am getting the template from a local mustang owner at around 12:30. I do have a spring compressor, but I really don't like it only because it has slipped on me 2 times.

I am a bit worried about using my claw type one to remove my coil springs which means I am procrastinating.

Only true if he has a 67-70. If he has a 64.5-66 than it is 1" down 1/8" back. If it were done with just 1" down from the original holes you will mess up the UCA's location in relation to the LCA which will screw up the ability to set caster correctly.

I got advise from the guy and he said duck tape the claws in place so they don't slip.

I did mine a couple of months ago. here's my $0.02

make sure you have nice sharp drill bits and start small then build up size.
are your UCAs in good condition? Now is a good time to do top ball joint and refurbish the inner pivot as well.

dont forget your wheel alignment specs. whatever shims you have in place now, make sure they go back the same way. that will leave it driveable to get you to a wheel alignment shop

good luck.

I just got the car aligned 2 months ago. 67s don't have shims I think. I think all of my suspension is in good shape from when I took off the wheel last week. I might be getting some new rims next week depending on how high they get on Ebay.

I have never heard about this shelby drop. Y dont u just get the 1" drop coils (rt at 620lbs) that would save you the hassle on doing this modification right or are you doing this to use the original coil height?

If i did this conversion to my 68 mustang their is no modification needed but to drill the holes 1" down from the original holes and just bolt them back on?
