Headliner help
to do it correctly both the front and rear window should be removed, however it is possible on some models to rig it up so it "works" without doing that. I could have made it "work" on my 69, so I don't know how the 65 would be.
Basically the way I did mine was put in all the listings and hang it up. Once I have it up to the roof I secured the front and rear first to make it really tight. First just like pull the front, then secure it with clips or something, then pull the back to do the same. Make sure it is spread out evenly along the sides so that when the sides are pulled tight there are no wrinkles in it. Once it seems tight, begin by gluing the front and back, being sure it is nice and tight. Then once that is dry pull and glue 6 inches or so at a time on the sides and work your way back. Like do 6 inches on the DS, then 6 inches on the PS, then back to the DS, etc, to be sure that it is nice and even.

I have done a fastback and hardtop. Make sure that you havea helper. Try to dig up an old article from Mustang Monthly if you can find one. I used a hair dryer to get wrinkles out. Some will take several days to come out completely. Use the correct 3m glue and pull, pull, pull. I worked front to back, side to side and then repeated the process before the glue dried. Take your time and you cn make it look as good as it did new.

most important thing is to take your time! patience definitely pays off for this project.
and I used a heat gun for some of the wrinkles, but generally didn't have to use it. Just lay it in the sun for a while before you install too. The california heat helped me as well.

I put mine in using a butter knife and 2 putty knifes, with their edges dulled down, 1 quart of contact cement from home despot, throw away brush,,, both windows still in,,hence the need for dull objects,,,,, layed the headliner out in the sun for a couple hours,,mounted new roof insulation with contact cement, hung the headliner, then fromnt to back using the butter knife and both putty knifes,, 1 was approx 1 inch wide the other 3 inches wide,,, between the 3... everything went as per mustang monthly
