Default what type of headers?

i need help on which type of headers should i run on my 66? I can get a set of Tri Y headers for free, but i was wondering if i should run a set of full length hooker or flowtech headers?what should i do with the exhaust? should i use the 2" i have or go to a 2 1/2" system? So far the only engine mods i have are a set of polished and ported 289 head with a 3 angle valve job, edelbrock intake, edelbrock 600 cfm carb, a summit cam with an advertised duration of 276 on the intake and 286 on the exhaust and at .050" lift the intake is 218 and the exhaust is 228.

There's no better bargain than free headers. Lot's of guys are running Tri-Y's and most are satisfied with them. If you can afford it, I would go with the 2 1/2 inch pipes though.

i have a pair of 60's style chambered mufflers, and a pair of 40 series flowmaster i scored both free from a muffler shop. which ones do you think will flow better? the chambered mufflers are a straight through design.

Not sure what they are, but the better they flow, the better for you. Do you think they will flow better than the 40 series?

all i know is the chambered mufflers are louder than the flowmaster and i can see straight through them, they have no packing material, but they do have a louvered core

If they are louder than the flowmaster's then they may not be street legal.
