Default I need a dash part.

I need the dash center piece for a 71-73 Mustang with the guage holes in it. Its the piece that houses the radio/ac controls and runs from the top of the dash down, almost touching the floor. I do not need the actual guages. Can anybody help me out with this?

Ooo....I have one....... but I need it for my car.[8D] However you can buy one new for like $100 that is made for a modern sterio...or $65 for the old sterio with the ***** (through NPD). As for one with the gauges you may be looking at more than one piece because the 71-73 radio bezel didn't have a gauge cluster...just the radio and ac slots.

Correct me if I am wrong.[&:]

Edit.....if I am not wrong about the piece you are looking for I am probably going to get a new one so I can instal a new radio and not tear up a perfectly good bezel. I may be willing to part with mine for a resonable price. I belive it is black in color.

No, no, I already have that part. I need the piece that the radio/AC bezel screws to. The Mach 1s and some others with a premium guage package had 3 gauges in the middle of the dash right under the middle AC vents. The regular models have a emblem that says "Mustang" here (which is what I currently have). I want one because I want to add Trans temp, Oil press, and water temp gauges to my car (which only has dummy lights right now.) I found one on ebay for 35 bucks but I was stupid and didn't bid on it. You can find the regular ones like mine all day long, but not manyof the factory gauge equipped ones.

You will need the wiring harness for it too. You may be better off just getting an aftermarket three gauge cluster. I had one in my '71 that I mounted to the front of the short console under the heater controls. It looked good and was easy to see.

I wont need a the wiring harness because I do not plan on using stock gauges, that's why I don't need them with the center piece. I would like to get a pod that would allow me to put them where you are talking about, I even though about making something, but the problem is that a 2 1/16 gauge wont fit there easily. You have to push them in between the dash piece and short consol now, and its tight, so there's no way a pod could fit there. Besides, with the center piece, I could keep it looking all factory, which is what I want since the rest of the interior is bone stock.

I found a smaller set of gauges that fit perfect. Mounted to the short console the looked like they meant to be there. Shop around you will find them. The gauges on the deluxe panel are not seperate gauges. I think you will have problems making it work.

I am pretty sure that I can make them work, I may have to make the holes bigger, but thats not a problem. I understand that the guages are all in one piece, but I do not plan to use ANY of the stock gauges from the center piece, so there will be no need to "seperate" them.I am going to use just the center piece itself, make the holes bigger if need be, and install Auto Meter gauges in it. Nobody makes a tans temp gauge any smaller than 2 inches, trust me I've looked. Autometer has some guages that closely resemble the stock style, so I want to use them in the center piece of the dash.

My question originally was if anybody had one of these centerpieces, what I am going to attemp to do with it(weather it works or not) doesn't really matter.

I picked up the piece I needed today at a local classic mustang shop for 50 bucks. I also got my gauges today and yes, it is going to work out nicely. I am going to have to get some "mini bezels" cut to go around the gauges though though because the pevious owner attempted to do this and they did it wrong. It will all look good though when its done. I have the guy in the shop making them for me. I drew them up in auto cad, and he is going to cut them out of 16 GA. stainless steel on the laser machine. So hopefully tonight I can start getting everything tore apart, wires run, senders in, ect. Then tomorrow night I will hopefully be able to finish it up!
