Electric Problems
I have a 65 Mustang that i'm redoing. I am working on the engine compartment first, and am done now. Before i started the car wouldnt start, put new starter, solenoid, battery on, still wouldnt start, jumped across the starter and everything, wouldnt turn. So my dad told me to take out the plugs and that worked, once it turned for little bit, put them back in, and fired it up. The i worked on the compartment, its sat for few months, i reran the electric wires out of the way to clean things up and remounted the starter solenoid. Now went to restart it and nothing gets power. The battery has power, the solenoid is grounded, so isnt the engine, so isnt the starter, and i jumped across the starter again without plugs and nothing, not even a click from the starter. The headlights, interior lights, nothing has power. Any ideas? Someone else said bad ground but i cant find any bad grounds.

#1. Check your battery. Make sure it is strong.
You say that you reran your wires. It ran before you did that but not afterwards. Check your connections and make sure that they aren't loose and they are run to the proper locations. PITA but there really isn't a shortcut around that.

N2,
If you jump directly accross the starter relay and the starter won't crank, you have a dead battery, no ground, very bad cables, or a bad starter. Since you have no lights or other noticable power, its one of the frist 3 things I listed. If it cranks and don't start, that's an entirely different issue.

Get a brush and clean the terminals that connect to the battery. Often this is a good place to start. Then you can take off with atest light. Start checking connections and grounds. The problem will show itself if you keep after it. Just make sure you make a note of any other findings while you are in the process. I always get a new notebook and clip board when I start a project. That way all the info stays together and its easy to flip back thru it if the need arises.

usually no juice is a ground issue if the battery is ok. Take the battery to autozone and they can test that - I have had more issues with bad grounds than anything when it comes to electrical. Another bit that Ron Francis always says about grounds is that the negative cable on the battery should go to the bolt that holds the starter on. check these out and best of luck, electrical can be especially frustrating[:@]
