broke something

HELP.
I was under my 66fastback for an oil change and notice a broken spring like partunder my tranny. It has a hook on one side, spring in the middle,and im guessing a hook on the other, but im not sure since its broken off after the spring. Somebody should know what it is.

Looks like one of the clutch linkage springs. Properly installed it should attach to the clutch fork and pull it towards the front of the vehicle. This assumes of course that you're still using the factory mechanical clutch linkage.

Looks to me like a park brake spring. Isn't that the park brake lever that it's running through?

go pop your brake from park, and see how it reacts...if it doesnt seem like itl break your foot when it comes up, thats probably the answer
