Default Did I score?

OK, I gotta brag. I picked this up today for $80. I had it tested and it works great.

I have never run a one wire alt. Do I unplug my regulator and leave it unplugged? Do I just run the wire from the alt to the battery side of the solenoid? Thanks for the help.

dang thats nice, and yeah I think you unplug the regulator because the 1 wires are internally regulated or something, I can't be too sure though because I bought a normal 100 amp 3 wire

Yeah, I think that amp has an internal voltage regulator. I removed mine completely.

All you do isrun a single wirefrom the positive post on the solenoid to the alternator.

Yes. That alt is a delco remy, CHEVY style. You can remove your stock regulator because that alt has one built in. You just need tohook up the one wire directly to the battery or constantly hot side of thesolenoid. I cant believe you are cross breeding the stand! lol, j/k, looks nice.

No you don't, not if its a true one wire alternator. They only need the one wire hooked up, hence why its called a one wire .

You could be right , Tyler. Most, if not every GM alternator I saw during my years as a ASE licensed auto tech (1975-85) had (in addition to the B+ wire) a top plug to supply voltage to the alt (which activates the internal Vreg) and transmit the idiot light signal to the dash for if the Alt was not charging.

So If its truly a 1 wire you're right! However, unless GM's changed their product, he will need a wire from the B+ to terminal 2 if that top plug is there.

Ps: if you want to see how much juice the alt can put out, you ground a tab located in one of the "D" shaped holes in the back of the alt frame (next to the regulator)
