Default What tool would I use?

Long story short, I got a rearend housing with a fine, but firm coating of internal sludge. I cleaned up the center section of the housing with some acetone and a wire brush. What tool would I use to clean the axle housings? I need some sort of rotary wire brush tool, most likely on a 3 foot long rod to get in there with (on a drill?). Anyone heard of such a tool? Links, suggestions appreciated.

Edit: Something similar to this, but with a longer rod.

A steam cleaner works pretty good. You may want to soak in with GUNK first, it will loosen things up a bit.

I'd completely soak the thing in brake cleaner or some other harsh chemical and then take it to your local carwash around 1 in the morning. A few bucks and you could blast all that **** out of there...

Can you get Castrol Super Clean where you live? It's banned here in CA (damnit!), but if you can get it, it's an awesomely toxic degreaser. Mixed 2:1 and left to soak for an hour, it should do the job just fine. Otherwise, large amounts of Chemtool (carb cleaner) will work. Engine degreaser (the Gunk stuff you're talking about) is basically diesel, which, despite current prices, is probably still cheaper for a gallon than the equivalent in Gunk cans. Works great, though

I like the product called greased lightning. I used to sneak it on base to clean out LAVs for inspections. It would take a few hours where before it would take a good week of scrubbing.

Home depot has extensions for drills, when your installing electrical in walls. Add a mild hone or wire wheel. Piece of cake. Or, spend $40 or so and hand it to a machine shop and have it hot tanked.
