Need Paint Help
BA i was going to suggest the 69 Mach 1 paint scheme.
but you beat me to it[:@]
I like that scheme best because it gives it a finished look yet still a black.
i personally would clear the black tho. make it shiny.
also if the color does not match perfectly it will be hard to tell because of the small amount of color.

not true
i did not say it would be impossible to tell
but harder than if the whole hood was painted a red that did not match.
especially if he brings it to a paint shop and laser match his fender color and then buffs out both the fender and the hood.
ive painted four red mustangs, and two where metallics, i know how the matching will go.
BA bring teh car to a shop and have them laser find your current color and have them use the PPG or similar electronic paint database and have them pick a color. if your shop dosent have this ability go somwhere that does and get the paint code. then go back to the shp and order teh paint.
then your set. my advice is to also buff the whole car because the new clear on the hood will make it look dull.

The reason that is off is because they hand matched the paint. I still have the paint spots on the headlight bucket. I will find a shop to laser match my paint.
The paint of the front fenders and hood is good. The paint past that is in bad shape. I know the color code on the data plate is candy apple, but the car has been repainted a few times. We can see where paint is peeling off.

small shops that dont have the "eye"profit" etc. use the paint shop to get it correct they will come over and shoot the color and print the formula out for you. its the edges where you can tell the difference that is why you bring the new color just over the edge of the old panel to trick the eye, because it doesnt matter how good you are or how many digital cameras you use to get a formula it gonna be a different color. even if you spray paint from the same paint container the next day

thats still no excuse for it to be that off, if they couldnt get it right they should have painted down the entire right side of the car.
a good shop today will match it 95% effective.
make sure the shop is a good shop. ask to see vehicles done ready to be picked up. check out the work that they do.
most of all dont sweat it to much or getting sprayed isnt going to be as much fun as it could be.

This guy was cheap so we went with him. We got a price from a mustang body shop. Tried to get in touch with them so they could paint it. Never heard from them so we went with him. 2 weeks after this we get an email from the mustang shop.
yes you do want a reputable shop(read not the ones who painted your door)
Being a painter mismatched stuff bugs me. I for one can't stand is late model cars the bumper covers are always a different color from the body of the car( they them are painted separately) then installed later. now that ive said something you guys will probably start to notice it. but even bumpers that are painted on the car can end up mismatched due to the difference in materials
i painted a gas door at work once it looks perfect on face(directly looking at it) but if you moved towards the rear at all it would flop and look wrong. it was a car lot and they didnt want to pay to paint the 1/4 panel too so i had to tint and spray tint and spray till it was correct even using the camera(as it gives a blendable match, not a perfect match) this was on a honda you guys would be suprised at some of the variants on colors(it comes from them not cleaning out the lines etc when changing colors) some have 35+ variants talk about aggravating. honda has some of the worse problems with variants. stuff like caddilac, lincoln lexus etc luxury lines normally are very good about just using the "prime" color
