Need Paint Help
If I find the paint I want could I paint the whole car with the help of my dad and a guy he knows? The guy he knows has a paint booth that he is willing to let us use for my dads truck. I want to repaint the whole car if possible with very low cost. I don't have a job yet, and I have spent almost all my earning so far on the mustang.
I have tons of people comment on my black hood. When I eventually repaint the car, I'll paint it to match but it really pops out as it is and gives a really agressive look. It has a really nice, glossy finish with no orange peel, so it doesn't look like a half way done job.
I dont want to sound like an *** but any how.......With those rims and a black hood, the car would look like a disaster. You would have 2-3 different paint colors going on. not to mention "those rims" to set everything off. I would keep the hood aside until your ready for a full paint job. But hey, she is your baby so pimp her to a point, but dont over pimp because she will look like a clown with funny shoes.
I want to powdercoat the rims black sometime in the future. I still have about a week until it is painted. I have still have to sand it, fix the rust, fix a few cut parts, prime it, maybe wet sand it, and paint it.

mcd's is always hiring
yu can paint it reasonably yourself if you do the labor yourself.
im gonna paint my f150 when i go back to work im gonna spend about 200$ total for a gallon of single stage urethane. im gonna prime the entire truck with my black epoxy primer so the color will come in early(gonna go with dark green probably
if i did it bc/cc it would add about 200$ more on my work stuff like the truck i use the value ppg line called shopline or if i go with dupont i use nason.
when i do the 65 im gonna use either ppg's deltron 2000 or Basf's Glasurit line

Here is the site he bought it from.
just because they are not hiring doesnt mean you need to wait(plus its easier to get a job if you already have one) and with the economy you need to get a job before there are none to get. older men and women are gonna start taking a lot of jobs like that as second and 3rd jobs just to keep up with the rising COL

If someone told me that I had a whole week to "sand it, fix the rust, fix a few cut parts, etc.", I'd probably have a heart attack. I don't know if it's possible to get a car ready for paint in only a week. At best, it's taken me a couple months. It usually ends up being closer to 4 months.
If you just want to slap some paint on it, you're wasting your time and money. There's only one "right way" to paint a car and to do it right, the car needs to be completely disassembled. Interior completely removed, glass out, doors/fenders/hood/deck lid removed. Each piece needs to be prepped and readied off of the car. If you rush it, it's going to look like crap.
Good luck,
Dave
