you buy the 3.73 and then deliver the 4.11 to me...

I've replaced nearly everythng on my car snce I have had it, and still havent touched the rear end. I have no idea what gears are in there, off the top of my head, butI am trying to figure out what ratio I should go with if I get a trac-loc or Detroit Locker... don't really take it to the track... ever, and do a fair amount of freeway cruising, but I wanna smoke both tires, and I need something wth a little more get up and go off the line..

I've got a center chunk, pumkin, or what ever you call it for a 9' with Traction loc and it's4.11:1 for 31 spline axles. A friend bought it new for his van, he tows a boat and needed it to pull the boat outta the water. With gas going higher he yanked back out. It has only a few miles on it. I just can't go 4.11:1 without an overdrive so it's been sitting in my garage. Didn't mean to hijack the thread but let me know if you are interested...

The 4.11 is too much gear for a C-4 and the type of driving I want to do.

You know WAFFLES...... I was wanting a 3.73 disc-brake trac-loc.
You buy me one of those and I will personally deliver mine to your front door!

The 4.11 is too much gear for a C-4 and the type of driving I want to do.
With the shift kit and 4.11's it chirps the tires everytime it shifts, even 2nd to 3rd. COOL, But annoying after while.
hahaha It makes me think of when I first got my mustang and I was redoing my suspension I bought a 9" with 4:11s and I hooked it up to my three speed[sm=drooldude.gif]
Needless to say it made the sixer a different ride

There you go WAFFLES,
Tarafied1 has what you want.
For Freeway cruising you want to keep the RPM's Low (Gas Mileage/wear and tear)
You may want to go with 3.55 to4.00 rangewithout an overdrive
4.11 or higher with an overdrive is fine.
Your stock 9 incher should have around 3.08 gears from the factory unless it is coded a trac-loc or drag-pak.
Mine has a mini-spool and that pretty much leaves me with BOTH tires turning and Squeeling at any speed ,even around corners.

The biggest hassle I had with my Flaming River setup was with the wiring, but that proved to be a giant mouse turd once I pulled my head out of my ***. Get your Mustangs column schematic and the schematic for the Flaming River one, take the column connector plug off of your Mustang, wire that to the Flaming River setup and you keep your factory harness intact.

Solder your connections, heat-shrink 'em & forget 'em.

Hey Wild 351 how large is the cowl induction hood? 1.75 inches? 2.75? And where did you get it?
