My 67 is Sagging
I know very little about suspensions and need some input.
I have a 67 coupe that has undergone 8 cyl conversion (289,8" rear, discs up front, 15" 5 lugwheels) and put some 15" 245/60s on 8 inch rims in rear, and 15" 215/60s on 7 inch rims up front. Oh, put in new KYB non performance shocks all around. The car drives fine UNTIL I have 4 (2 front 2 rear)passengerswhenthe wheels are constanty rubbing and bottoming out. It sounds really bad and embarassing when Iput more than 1` o2 friends in for a test spin.
What are the solutions? I have thought about going to 5 leaf springs but not sure that is the best thing to do and really haven't come up with any other ideas. I like the wheels and have put too much money in them to swap them to a smaller size.
Many Thanks inAdvance.

if they are the orig. leafs, im not surprised at all. they do sag over time. i think some stock replacement ones from mustangs unlimited, or any of the vendors would work fine. or if you want you could get some 4 1/2 leafs 5's or what ever you want. good luck!

Go with 5 leafs and rake that rearend! Just kidding, unless you like the rake look
, but I agree with racin66 new leafs are the way to go I used to have the same issue..

If the car has a "rake" it will sit higher in the rear. Old school look but I like it. I had the same issue and put 5 leafs on mine. It sits a little higher but now I can carry 3 in the back. It is a little stiffer ride however.
Tarafied hit the nail on the head, it was actually a huge thing to raise the rear end... I like the look and it drastically decreases the chance for bottoming out. With the old leafs as soon as I would punch it the tires would start grinding, it actually toar rubber off the rear.
My car is raked by somes standards but, some get ridiculous I will post a picture of my uncles car tomorrow, it is too high IMO

Have you considered air shocks? I use them and can add a little air if someone rides in the back seat. I can jack the rear up, like we did when I was a kid, or I can level it out. One of the first things I did, back in the 70's, was to start using air shocks on the rear of my Mustang.

Most people argue against air shocks but if you get a decent pair they are fine especially if your not building a track car.... which most of us are not... i use a pair to just cart around town in my stang (daily driver) and it drives fine for the most part... air it up when im carrying a few of my buddies or just want the cars big ol' butt in the air., but i dont really race the stang, thats what my charger is for.
