Oh yea, im not trying to hog the thred here but the air shocks are also cheap and super easy to put on... if you want to get fancy later and get something more suited for strip or track use then its only like 2 bolts per shock and theres no real harm done... but its cheap and im sure it will be fine to keep those wheels from rubbing... have fun

Air shocks are death to a unibody car the upper shock mount will punch through the floor over time. When you did the v8 swap was the front springs changed out?The cheapest way to lift the rear is a load leveler aka add a leaf most auto part stores carry them.

I guess that is a possibility but I have had air shocks on my 65 since 1970. Never experienced that problem.

I have always heard the same thing that the strength of the floor would give with the pressure of air shocks in older cars and especially Mustangs... Perhaps this is one of those false warnings? You still have to have decent leafs I would assume so the sole weight is not directed onto the shocks? I could be wrong of course?

Good posts. I am not going for the raked look, just want something that take a little more weight. The air shocks sound temptingbut I am not a fan of repairs that are 'a real mother to fix'. Yeah probably unlikely but I could seeit happening.

Two ideas I am thinking nowis adding a load leveler (leaf) to my old springs or going with a new set of springs. Any thoughts on what would be best? I am pretty sure they are the original springs all around. The fronts seem OK.

Never dealt with leafs or really any springs on cars. How tough is it to take them off and reinstall?I went to the FAQs and didn't see any tips.
