Default 69 hood scoop location

I am just finishing up lining up the body panels on my fastback. I will have to post some pics one day. I need the measurement from the back of the hood to the start of the scoop. Its the boss 429 scoop. Thanks for any help.

Sorry I can't help you, don't have the 429 scoop, if the distance looks the same for the normal hood scoop from edge to rear I can measure mine for you

Which scoop? the shaker? If it is the shaker and you get the dimensions please post it here.My 70 is headed for paint and will soon be going back together.I found a deal on an original hood andpurchased a repop shaker scoop for itawhile back but it needs to be shimed up for sure and possiblly left or right as the motor mounts are not stock.nor is the intake Iknow we can move the hood around to adjust a little but would like to know the stock dimensions ..if they exist.I havent had it on the car withthe engine in it yet so im cluelesson dimensions for it.I know ..I know..every engine ie.351 429 302 and 302 boss had different intake hieghts.but a ball park shim height from head to to original intake carb plate to scoop would be nice to have as a starting point.soIknow close to how much to shim beforehand. The intake on it is being replaced, not sure with what yet ,motor is a crate engine because original block will be built after car is drivable and money is back in bank from restoration.want suggestionsfor stroking original motor, cam, heads, carb, and intake to have enough power to make these 5.0 guys and chevelles ect to go and say DAAAYUUUM ,but still be drivable without owning half of texes or the middle east lol.

I have the 351 panoff of a pickup to use on a 302 4v with the new neoprene heavy motor mounts wich may or may not change stock engine height. I'm told bythe people at http://www.fordramair.com/the 351 pan isthe pan to use with the 302/4v NON boss engine. They also said "some shimming " would be needed.A word about them ...nice repro product with the exception of pan being fiberglass with no snorkel and trim ring being plastic and doesnt fit well with stock shaker hood hole.If anyone has a "real" trim ring for one IM or email me I may be interested.

Sorry to highjack you thread andIHave a guy im calling that I KNOW will have the answer to the non shaker scoop dimensions, will call him first thing in AM and ask for you.His company is hunters specialty restoration and paint in Walnut cove NC.Call him yourself, the guy does nothing but old ford muscle cars and may be a future contact for many here at MF.I have seen his work and he is a reputable man he says he will do it ...he will do it.

Now i know the start to this thread was for the BB and mine is a small block but would like to know the answer to this question as well for both the big block and small block as well as the small block boss engines. If anyone knows these dimensions please post them here ..even if they are "ball park ' dimensions, gives me a starting point.

the reason I ask for the BB as well is after this fastback "restomod clone"isfinished I also have a 70 boss not alll nunbers matching 302 boss that rolls in shop when restomod rolls out.the marti says the boss was factory bb 4 speed .the boss will be restored as close to concourse restoration asI can afford and will wait till money is there to do it right.Had a marti done on the boss and its the real deal.floorpans cowl and rear shock mounts are "pristine" but trunk pan homeycomb and read valance are shot.the only thing numbers dont match on are the engine and tranny, someone installed a 302 boss SBwith 4 speed toploaderin it.marti says BB and 4 speed toploader rear end matches marti.my thinking with this car is go back to BB and as close to original as i can go back with.I know the only two people to ever own this car,the father took us as teens to pick it up from dealer and his son and I race work and restore together

Weintend to show this car when finished, and for those like me who hate trailer queens thebosswill be trailered to shows ..whileIdrive the restomodas "blocker" (sorry smoky and the bandit was my generations thunder road movie) so I like the "blocker idea" lol.To me that halves the pain ofthe boss on the trailer.

waffles please IM or email me I have some questions for you and some 69 parts i cant use laying around that youmay want.im looking to have "your" car ,only a 70 and calypso coral in color (original color) You give me the info and answer my ?'s we will work a good deal for what 69 stuff i have for yourpayout of knowledge

Sorry if post isdisjointed or missing info as i have manybeeritis tonight

thanks Jeff

Its not the shaker. I have a small block in the car but like the boss scoop. If your guy gets back to you it would help a lot.

Are you sure it's a boss9 scoop? Those things are huge. The standard scoop is 1" from the edge of the hood.

I checked it and its about 23" wide, 27 1/2" long, and about 3 1/2" tall in front.

Does anybody have a 69 with a boss scoop? If you do could you measure from the hood to cowl gap to the back of the scoop. I can handle the centering and drilling the rest of the holes. I just need the distance to where it starts.
thanks

I have the same question, I also have the BOSS 429 hood scoop that I will install on my 1970 Mustang. Need to know measurement from the back of the hood to the start of the scoop?

Wow, I didnt even bother reading all of your post before I started responding, then i saw you targeted me directly, lol.

my car is a 70, BTW... and we may yet work out a trade... I have an original blueprint for the shaker hole thati have the legal right to copy and sell..

what do you have that I may be interested in? lets working something out. I'll get you a copy of the shaker hole cutout chart, and we'll see what you wanna do in exchange. i did what it sounds like youre doing, i went from a 302 2bbl to a 351w with a shaker... with my 302 i needed to get a high rise intake manifold and a solid 1" carb spacer to make the shaker sit adequately...

ill pm you, but figured id respond here first.
