Default Shelby side scoops

I'm looking for some shelby side scoops for my 66 mustang. I called npd, cj pony parts, and mustang unlimited and all they sell are fiberglass ones? Does anyone make metal ones? Also how would you even go about mounting the fiberglass ones?

Well that sucks. I was hoping I could find metal one's and possibly tack weld them on.

They've always been fiberglass as waffles said, some are better than others. I got some from Mustangsplus that were/are garbage. They had bolts in the middle of them attached with some really poorly crafted blobs of fiberglass. I'm going to try the Maier racing ones this time as they appear to have the inner lip already molded on, but as with any fiberglass part there will always be some fitting to do. Does anyone else have any input on these? I'm looking to replace the crappy ones I've got on right now as well.

Not necessarily. While 67-68 lower side scoops got/get bonded onto the car, the 65-66 side scoops get riveted on. They can be bonded on, but it's not necessary.

And to the OP, No, I've never seen them in anything but FG.

in MOSTTTTTTTTTT cases, they get bonded on. even on a GT/CS they had a couple screws on the front of the scoop, correct?

I've always seen them riveted along the inner lip with pop rivets (on 65-66's anyway) I doubt I'd want to mold them on as it'd almost definitely crack.

They are bonded or screwed.

You can get scoops with a screw in the middle or you can get the bond on type.

Just an FYI the ones with the screws in the middle look like pewp. I have them and they have gaps and just look kinda crappy. I will be replacnig them shortly. The riveted ones when fitted properly are much nicer looking IMO. Just my experience, I was very disappointed with how they turned out and they catch all sorts of junk in them where they mate up.

We got our side scoops from Mustang Depot...something like $70 for the pair. First we had to do a bit of trimming and then used some 5 minute epoxy glue to kinda hold them in place, then fiberglassed all around. After the fiberglass cured, sanded smooth and then a light layer bondo to make them look good. A little primer and ya got a nice set-up. Takes maybe 2-2.5 hour each side.
