351 is all you gonna fit in a 65-66 engine bay

when you say 427 i assum you mean the 427 SOHC?

if you really want a 427 buy a 351 stroked out to 427 then you wont have to hack up the engine compartment

Do you know the 427 cammer is 10k to 20k easy for the engine alone.Yes to get that in a 64-66 you'll have to cut out the shock towers use a mustang 2 kit or http://www.griggsracing.com/ . If you want to see one in a 65 fastback try http://www.blueovalranch.com/ and click 427 sohc mustang be ready to drool.

A 427 SOHC in any kind of condition will run you considerably more than 10-20K.

i have 7 427s in the back of my storage unit. all original builds and never put into cars. ill give them all to you for $5000. I'll send you a money order from some miniscule bank for $30,000 and you cand me the difference back as a personal check. Also keep $2000 for yourself.

5.0L = 427 cid???? *head scratch* I thought 5.0L = like 305 cubic inches... do the decals on your windshield add ponies felt too?

** EDIT **

BTW, the 4.6L mod motor is as big as a 427FE, in actual dimensions. this too will require assloads of cutting/modding to the front susp/engine bay/frame. I think Rmodel hit the nail on the head. If you want cubes in that small engine bay, buy a stroked aftermarket 351w block. poke and stroke that horrid engine to 427 cubes, slap some good AFR's on it, nice cam, intake(s)[pending if you go EFI, which can really make more power, but should be avoided if you are not capable of tuning a standalone, or cannot find a good tuner].

Best of luck. If you want a big engine in that little car, maybe you should sell that one and buy a 67+.

A 427 cammer is a huge engine. It's extremly wide at the top. I think the only thing bigger is the 429 Boss. Can it fit? Of course, with a torch and a welder you can get anything to fit. But it won't be easy.

The 5.0 cammer is a mod motor - late model 4.6 - stroked to 5.0L. An excellent engine for most applications. It can be made to fit in a 65 body, it's been done many times before. Again, not easy but certainly easier than a 427 cammer.

It is my understanding that a late modelmod motor(late Ford) will fit in the engine compartment simply by changing out the shock towers with some narrow units, (produced by some company I cant remember).

I think these shock towers require the use of coil-over shocks instead of the traditional coil springs, but the rest of the stock suspension can be used, and the engine compartment can remain otherwise stock.

I saw this in an issue of PHR or Hot Rod from about 18 months or two years ago. I think they had to use custom headers as well, but these narrow shock towers otherwise solved all of the fit issues. Using this kit it seems to me that this would be a very viable swap......

This said, I am a huge push-rod fan.....

Nonetheless I think a swap like this would be pretty cool....
