Default New upholstery

I am getting everything together to re-upholstery my seats, front and back. I am supplying everything and began to call around to see how much it will cost to have someone do this. One guy I called left it open saying he couldn't tell untill he was already in the process of doing it, but finally gave me a ballpark of $500 or so, depending on the fit of the foam and upholstery. I hate when businesses "have no idea" how much it will cost. It is just their time, I think $500 is way too much, I mean how long can it take to redo two buckets and a folddown rear seat? I thought about doing it myself and may be forced to if it cost $500. Geezh.

Most of the time they dont know they could be getting into. So over the phone they will usually give a bigger number. My guys on here have redone them, and said it takes a least a few hours, most more than 5hours.

If your not in a hurry to have them done, i would try it yourself. At most it will take the weekend.

I think I will give it a shot doing it myself.I can do one seatat a time to make sure I don't screw anything up. There are a couple of other places to check out first. I was expectingaround no more than a couple of hundred to have the new upholstery put on. Like you said nick.S, no more than 5 hours so what is that, like $100 per hour? A little steep for labor. Even it it takes all day, that is still around $65/hr.

Start with the rear seat. See how that goes, if it does well then go for the fronts. You dont want the fronts to be fudged up.[:'(]

We brought ours to the best upholstery guy in town (he used to be an upholstery instructor at Wyotech), he did the headliner, carpet, package tray, and seats for $540.

That's what I'm talking about. That is more reasonable.

You can do it if you get the proper tools and have a helper. My wife and I did our's in a couple days. Just getting everything pulled where it belongs is the trick. New foam would be good but youcan "cotton up" the bad places in foam if not too bad. Good luck and take pictures.

My guy did all my seats for $100. He even fixed the foam in all seats... He also fixed the burlap in the rear seat...
