Resistor Wire..??
Bump
reason for bump:
new subject, question.
Just read paper that came with my Flamethrower 40,000 volt coil, 1.5 ohm. it says that if you have a resistor in the wire that runs from the coil to igniton you have to remove it for the coil to work because it needs 12v to run.
well that doesn't make sense to me because it had a flamethrower coil on it when i bought it (same voltage and ohm) and it ran fine. so why now will it not work?
and finally HOW DO I REMOVE THE RESISTOR, WHERE IS IT? There is nothing in the engine compartment, would it be up under the dash?

So let me get this straight... It turns over, (strongly or it might be the batterybecause it's been a month), you are getting fuel, and there's no spark? (Verified?) It sounds like it's time to do some good old spark chasin'. Break out your multi meter and isolate the circuits that might have a short i.e coil etc. A good place to start is always your grounds, clean 'em up, but other than that make sure your components are getting juice and when you figure out which one isn't things get a lot easier. Good luck with it.
this is gonna sound stupid but i don't know how to set points or anything else...ever since i got the car it has had electronic ignition in it
tomorrow i will go out and start tracing wires/testing them and hopefully i can find an answer..

Pull your distributor cap off and double check to see if your new pertronix is installed/adjusted/working correctly.
Power to the coil?

What do you mean by power to the coil? should the coil be hooked up to anything like battery, or starter relay?
right now there is 1 black wire on the - side that goes into the distributor, and 2 on the + side one runs into the distributor, and the other goes into a clump of wires that runs into the firewall. I am assuming it goes to the ignition switch?
Yea but I can't seem to find it..go figure when I need something it is no where to be seen. I will most likely pick up one tomorrow.
do you think it could just be a faulty coil?
