Suggested Ramps
if you are talking ramps that you pull your car on to work under i wouldn't. I wont crawl under a car with them under it. My dad was under one and the ramps collapsed and trapped him under the car for a few hours. buy some good jack stands and a jack.
I got my ramps from napa. Then I used some 2x4s and built preramps.
The preramps are about 3.5 feet long and are supported by a block of wood in the center.
The preramps make getting the car on the final ramp much easer plus my mustang sits so low that the nose hits the metal ramps way before the wheels do.
I think I paid about 30.00 to 40 for them from napa.
Always set parking brake and use 2 tire chalks one on each rear wheel and pound them in so they make good contact and you'll be fine.
If your worried about them collapsing or plan to work on heaver cars as well get the ones rated to 4,000 lbs (I think thats what they were) probably a good idea either way

Most on the forum don't like ramps. I have them and I have used them for years. I also have 4,000 pound Sears jack stands and use them. Take the same precautions you would for jack stands...don't count on them to hold. Never count on anything to hold your car up. Put something under the car for it to fall on if there is a collapse. Whether I am using ramps or stands I put a mounted tire under the car with some 4X4s or 6X6s on top. I also leave the hydraulic jack in place with a little pressure on it. Don't use a concrete block...they will break. I only put the front or back up on ramps at any one time. That leave two wheels on the ground to block. That guards against the car rolling off the ramps. I block with 80 pound bags of dry concrete mix. I've never seen a ramp collapse but I have seen a jack stand buckle. Whether you use ramps or stands - BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK! USE SOMETHING ELSE UNDER THE CAR TO STOP THE CAR BEFORE IT FALLS ON YOU!
By theway, driving the front tires up on the ramps is not easy. Unless you block the rampsagainst something they will just scoot forward when you try to drive up. Another drawback is I have always had to have someone outside the car tell me when I am fully on the ramps and before I drive offof them. The area for the tires is usually just large enough for the tire footprint with very little room front and rear.

Yes I have seen a lot of broken ramps out there i wouldn't trust them.I have had the same jack stands for 11 years now i trust them but i keep the jack under the car too just incase.I have had the ram on the jack blow on me once good thing i was jacking the car up it did scare the hell out of me.
at my house we use jacks and jack stands. and the rule is that after you jack it up and set it down on the jack stands we put the tires under the rockers. its not much but if the jack stands fail they willfall on the tires and wont leave you defenseless.
just how we do it here. ramps would see fun but youd have to have room to roll the car.
but hey its your choice.
