Default Headliner Bows

I am replacing the headliner on my 66 coupe. I am having trouble finding the rods or bows to install it with. Anybody know where I can find them. I checked my local mustang shop and they sai they only have the actual headliner. I figure I can't be the only guy who ever looked needed the headliner bows.

a little off topic, but can these bows be eliminated? I saw a resto-mod on mustangmonthly I believe that didnt put them back in. I guess they just used spray glue to adhere the headliner to the roof and claimed that they gained an extra 2' of headroom. Has anyone done this? I'd be interested in 2' of extra headroom if i could get it!

I doubt you would be able to notice any head room gained by taking the bows out. They go up basically flush against the roof. I guess you could just glue your headliner in but you would have to use some under padding to bring the whole thing flush. The support bracing for the car in the roof is probably a inch or so lower than the plain ceiling.

Hey thanks for the help finding them. i defiently would recommend against going without the bows. I have a friend who did it in an old VW and it just makes the headliner look trashy without the bows giving the headliner the shape its designed and cut for.

yeah the bows give it a nice snug fit and a clean look. If you were to just glue it up there just get a big sheet of vinyl so it doesn't have the seems in it like every foot. But yeah I think that would look ugly anyway, definitely keep the bows. And I doubt there is a headroom gain because the bows pull it right up to the top anyway, it'd maybe be a 1/2" at the most in the middle between the bows
