Default Cowl

Well this weekend I'm going to attempt to re-install my cowl panel on my 1966 ford mustang. My lower cowl piece is ate up by rust and I'm trying to decide what would be the best way to go about reinstalling it. I'm welding the vent's on the top shut and going to use the entire top piece, but from what I can tell the lower cowl panel offers hardly any structual support for car. I'm considering Just using the top cowl and making a bracket coming off it to hold the windshield wiper motor? I'll get some pic's up tommorow, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about this?

The lower panel, when welded to the upper panel, provides a huge amount of support.

I welded the top and bottom cowl panels togetheralong the front edgebefore installing it back in the car and I can tell you that it's extremely strong.

I can just picture your car folding up at the firewall area without the lower cowl welded in or without some type of additional support or frame..
