I was kicking around an idea.

Getting ready to paint the new gas tank when it arrives early next week then hopefully will get it installed on Friday.

Others had noted the tank would need to be painted and suggested semi-gloss black.

A friend of mine had suggested using "hill billy chrome" (i.e. metalic silver paint). At first I thought no way, then it kind of grew on me.

My only thought is that black would hide dirt, etc a lot better and I am also eventually going to paint my tail light panel black because I have seen a couple and it looks really good. Somehow I wonder if the chrome colored paint just might not look right in general.

So I am back to leaning hard toward semi-gloss black but wondering if anyone had ever seen anything else that might look cool?

I've used that fake-chrome paint before and wasn't impressed with the results. Maybe I was just drunk that night and screwed up, but the finish came out horrible. It is good for painting the inside of your taillight housings, it makes them brighter...

I painted my new tank semi-flat black on the top and undercoated the bottom, andit turned out pretty good. Actually, I posted a picture of it and everyone thought it was plastic haha, it just looked that way. I put a layer of sound deadener on it though, so can't even see anymore...

If you had the money, powdercoating would look great and insure that tank never rusts (or atleast the outside!).
