69 Mach 1 hood/side stripes/rear stripe: vinyl or paint?
I am restoring a 69 mach 1. would you please send me the document on striping and paint for the hood. Thanks jdhicks0470@yahoo.com
I am painting my 69 mach 1 but don't know the spacing from the hood edge to the stripe to the main blacked out portion. Any thoughts?

Yes the hood in paint, email me and I will send you a document with all the striping dimensions and the paint to be used.
The side a rear stripes are a vinyl and yes I believe mine was made by 3M, not too sure though. What I do remember is the repro was a ford licensed product, so it's good stuff. I thought about having the stripes painted on because it would be so flush with the paint (after clear coat) but decided against it since it wouldn't have the right reflectivity that the vinyls do, which is a safety feature. My body shop was fully capable of painting it on but I still decided against it.
And yes they are very hard to apply straight, and in fact mine aren't perfectly straight, I think the body shop could have done it better. But hey, they weren't the straightest from the factory and it is one of those things you can always get removed down the road if they get damaged or you just want it better.

The hood was painted for sure but to call it flat would be incorrect. If you paint it flat it will not look right and you will not be happy with it. The hood should be a satin finish. SEM trim black come in a spray can or quart can and is a perfect match to the original, IMO.
