Ive got a late model 5.0 with 67 302 headers on it and it clears everything including the original clutch pedal linkage.
you mean the stock manifolds off a 302? or 5.0 shorty headers?

sorry little confused.

The early headers bolt up fine to a 5.0. It's the late model headers that dont work.

FWIW, I had the down pipes on my vert's h-pipe redone and it cost me $25. Found a midas close to me that will do side work. Call a few shops to see how much they'll charge. Asking is free

I have a 67 coupe "ongoing" project car. 5.0 fuel injected engine out of a 89 Mustang GT. I had purchased some shortie headers for a 5.0 engine, but they were too wide to fit the 67 engine compartment.

My assumption at this point is to install 289/302 headers (either shortie or try-Y) on the 5.0 engine. The 289/302 headers should wrap tighter around the engine to clear the narrower engine bay between the shock towers.
