67 Mustang vent window?
Does anyone know where I can find the rubber seal that goes around the actual piece of glass when it is installed in a new vent window frame? (see picture of the frame attatched) If it uploads!
WhenI take out my existing piece of glass out of the old vent window frame, it has what looks to be a rubber seal around that glass. Then it looks like they both get installed into the "new" vent window frame.
I asked CJ Pony Parts while I was there this weekend during thier customer appreciate day, but the guy at the desk said they didn't offer it apparently (according to his inventory lists and parts lists) They sell the COMPLETE vent window assembly, so someone must be making that seal when assembling the new ones.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated!
PS - The old one is beyond "reuse" in my opinion.

I tried to find one just a couple of weeks ago. I could not find one in any part mags or part houses. Yes they do make a complete replacement unit that has this piece on it but I don't think it is available separately. If you find it. let me know where. I reused my old ones. All new rubber except for these pieces.
i was looking for this too. I found something that might work from national parts depot. Its glass channel seal strip part number 214a10-1. Its going to have to be cut and i havent tried it yet but i think it should work.
Cut and pasted from the NPD catalog.... yes, this is the rubber channel you're looking for....
65-73 Each (4’).....................................214A10-1 3.00
It usually works great for the little vent windows, but when you're trying to seat the door glass into it's housing.... not so great, better to bring it to a glass shop for an assist.

Nope, the piece from NPD is wrong and does not fit right. I just re chromed and restored my vent and quarterwindows. What you need is GLASS TAPE. You can only find this stuff in a glass shop. I tried the stuff from npd and its not thick enough, the tape from npd is for the driver side and passenger window and thats pushing it because thats a tough window.
Also IMO those after market frames are junk, your better off getting the originals repaired and re chromed. I spent $200 for both vent windows (I did get the s/s inside piece chromed as well) which is much cheaper then two $300 pieces of junk. Further more the after market windows do not have the same thickness and weight as the originals. You really notice this when you open and close your driver side and passenger side doors.

Yes and no.... sort-of.
I agree that the aftermarket vent window frames are junk... avoid them at all costs and re-chrome your originals.
I use the aforementioned NPD glass setting tape to restorethe vent windows w/o any issues. The glass fits into the stainless steel channels "like a glove" and comes out perfectly.... maybe I just get lucky?
I agree that the same glass setting tapedoesn't work at all for reinstalling the door glass into it's channel. Ford used three different size glass setting tapes to get a nice tight fit. 1/32", 1/16", and 3/32" were the thicknesses. You need all three or a combination of the three in order to get a nice tight fit. NPD glass setting tape is one size (I forget which thickness). It's doubtful that the one size will get the job done and that's why I also recommend using a professional glass shop.
