Default Picked up the 8.8 today!

Well after 2 hours of driving, the Fox 8.8 was in the back of the truck, 2.5 more hours and it was on the work bench. I got all the old 4 link brackets cut off, except for the ones that are cast into the center section. I figure I will just leave them on there since they aren't really hurting anything, and they might come in handy someday. I cleaned it all up, and it is now ready for some spring perches to be welded on and brakes/axles assembled. Hopefully all of my parts will be here by Wednesday so that I can get it ready to put in by next weekend. That will be pushing it, but I am very excited and motivated about this, so it's possible.

Sweet!

What are you going to do for axles? I *think* you may be able to run SN95 axles and disc setupon the '72. I can't remember what the track for the '72 is.
Have fun!
EXACTLY CORRECT!This is exactly what I am doing, but I am using Explorer discs. It is requiring me to make a 3/4 inch thick spacer though to move the backing plate out 3/4inch. I'm not 100% sure what type of brakes they are, since the guy won't email me back [:@], but I assuming they areExplorers since he said they will fit Mustangs and Rangers with8.8s, and they have the parking brake shoes that go inside the disc. I haven't got them yet so I willfind out whenthey arrive.

Don't worry, I did take some pictures of it being preppedand cleaned, but I am going to wait until I get all done with it, then I will post all the pics and do a big write up on the swap. I hope to be able to have it done by Sunday evening, but if not, it will be done next weekend.

Ok, so I answered my own question, after lots of googling, I found out that the Explorer discs will not work on a Fox housing because the housing ends have different bolt patterns. However, I was able to contact the seller of the parts (from eBay) and explain to him the situation. He believed me and said he would refund the money to me tonight, and seemed happy to have learned something new. I am still kinda down though becauseI am now back to square one as far as the brake issue goes. I NEED rear disc brakes off of a 94-98 Mustang, so if any of you can help me out (since everybody in the Fox section seems to know absolutely nothing about Fox 8.8s), let me know ASAP. Thanks!

I was able to pick up another complete axle for $150 with the disc brakes. It is a 7.5, but the brakes are the same between the two, so it doesn't matter to me. I'll sell the housing and other parts after I get what I need off of it.

I agree. And I definately prefer working on disc brakes over the drums. So much easier to deal with. I may have to get parking brake cables though. Im not sure I can make my current ones work with the disc setup. I hit one small snag though. When I picked up the housing, one caliper was unbolted, and hanging from the hose (somebody had pulled one axle shaft out), no big deal right? Wrong, I knew one rotor was missing, but it is also missing the caliper bracket. Good news is that I can get one, but it will cost me $45 and will take a few days to get it. I plan on going back over there tomorrow and see if the other disc and bracket are there, and if not, I want $45 bucks back to buy the missing bracket. Im not too worried about the pads/rotor because I was going to replace those anyway.

Well some good news... a local parts store will have a bracket for me today for $32 plus $3 for the bolts. I may or may not have to pick it up, it just depends on if that guy has the bracket or not. I'll be sure to let you all know what happens.
