Default Bent Slave Cylinder

ok here's the problem...I am currently in the middle of getting my stang back on the road. While working under the car I noticed my power steering slave cylinder rod was bent (tip of the rod that passes through the drop bracket). I have a 65 mustang, 289 w/ Hooker long tubes. I do have the power steering drop bracket (welded on) with what were fairly new bushings holding the cylinder on. I've heard that the drop bracket does ruin the geometry of the slave cylinder so would this cause the rod to unseat the bushings and consquently bend my rod. I did notice that the inside bushing was toast. I was just curious if anyone else has had this problem and/or knows how I may fix it. Regards

If it's only bent at the bracket, or after, don't worry about it. Just make sure it travel in and out od the ram smoothly, and that's not bent.

I agree here.. Just as long as the rod is not bent and going into the cylinder you are good. Any leaks at the seals?

nope no leaks, the only part of the rod that is bent is the tip, so maybe I'll try straightening it as best I can and put it back together. I was thinking that the inside bushing somehow came loose causing the rod to shift and bend, any ideas on how to prevent this, maybe different type of bushings (It is going to need new bushings anyways now)...
