Don't wanna look like a buzzard on a fence. Like you said, give it a little bit and make them an offer. But don't wait too long.

I told the wife last night that I wanted it and that I was going to offer her grandmother some money for it. She told me that her uncle would most likely get it. I met him while I was there and he was driving a freshly painted 78 Vette. It was nice but bone stock. 350, auto tranny.. I talked to him about the mustang and he didnt seem too interested in it. I think he sees it as too much of a project. I see it as potential. I have already started looking up parts for it. Like fbf351 said, I dont want to look like a buzzard trying to steal the old guy's car. But they already know that I have one just like it and would treat it well.

I was going to offer $500 for it. I know its worth more than that in parts, but its in pretty shabby shape right now.

However if I can get it for less that would be better, considering I will have to replace/patch just about all of the body pannels and the hood and probably some of the floor and frame. But that would still be pretty good since I will get my own welder to do it and start with the floors as practice. then move to less obvious spots to learn how to do body work. i could just cut an old pannel in half and practice mending it back together until Im confident enough to tack on a quarter
