what's it worth??
We have a 68 fastback and i'm trying too get a ballpark figure of what it might be worth, i'm not sure what code it is right now but i can give some details about the car. starting with the body, car is straight and solid it does have surface rust and a small hole through the body at the rear quarter panel, oher than the that the body is in good shape. motor is a 200 straight 6, motor has been rebuilt and also the tranny. as far as i can tell the frame is fine we replaced the floor pans the interior is the deluxe interior with the console on the roof. car needs paint and new interior, fuel lines brakes shocks and all that. does anyone have any idea (ballpark) what it might be worth from what i described or what else might you need besides the code? thanks for your time.
Have you tried looking it up on nadaguides.com?
That might be a good place to start.
You might also get an idea by searching craigslist around the country.
I also think that the price that you will sell it for will depend a lot on what city or part of the country you live in. With the overall state of the economy, the buyer pool has shrunk temporarily. But the demand for these cars will never disappear.
The I6 is going to hurt the overall value, I would imagine. But the fastback is obviously very popular and if it is as straight and relatively rust free as you believe it to be, I bet you will be able to get a pretty penny for it. If it was a V8, I would really love to buy it from you if the price was right. But I just can't do the six. Someone will though, no doubt about it.

I have been looking all over the internet and i have found some 68 fastbacks but they all have v8's in em, mine has the 200I6 engine but the other thing is this car is all original and it was a special order car from what i was told they didnt put the deluxe interior in the I6 cars only in 8's not sure that is true or not but it's what i heard.
you could get a marti report which should tell you if it was a special order.

At 4.50 a gallon a sixer ain't looking too bad for a driver
But it would be a great cruiser. Does anyone have any idea how many 68 FBs Ford gave I6 engines? I dont know my facts and history real well, but I always assumed most FBs had V8s.
