I just picked up a 69 stang with a 289 in it. It has a performer rpm intake, 650 cfm edlebrock 4 barrel carb, and i have a set of gt40p heads to put on it when i have it apart.Ineed to know how big of a cam i can go, with it still being somewhat streetable. Im new to all of this so any help we be greatly appriciated

I like either crane or competition cams with a mild grind. I think you will be happy with either.

Call Compcams techline.
Be prepared to answer a lot of questions. lol
They can put your right where you needs to be.

My old 289 was a similar set up with a 4 speed and no power anything.
Think I ran a 325 lift and 280 duration cant recall the #s but it was the highest lift I could run without cut pistons.
Keep in mind that 1.6 or 1.7 rollers give a lil more lift and I ran moroso push rods I think the stock ones were to long after that.

325 lift?!?! wow.. i ran .512 on mine with stockie pistons on my gt40p heads.. unless.. you only had the stock 289 heads, but i don't see why you couldn't run something meaner than a 325 lift even with the stock heads, even maybe if you upgraded the springs on em.
