Oooo, Dat Smell
OK. So what if I install a rear seat divider (original one is gone), a new rear package tray, trunk filler boards, trunk mat and new trunk lid seal? Assuming I don't have an exhaust leak (and put a new cowl seal on), would do a lot to keep exhaust out of the cab?
a BIG help would be sound deaden the whole floor. which is what me and my dad did in both our cars. that would seal up all crack or holes in the floorboards. and im gonna weld shut any un-necessary holes everywhere else.
any turn downs would aim the exhaust under the car and it would just rise up through any crack or holes. either get some gt tips or some straight chrome tips out the back about 1 inch past the rear valence.
ive seen some cars where the GT trumpets are like 4 or 5 inches past the holes! its so damn gross. thats not how its supposed to be.

I do know there are a couple of holes in the trunk pan, so that is probably a big part of it. I just had the exhaust system re-installed last year (dude who owned the car before me had purple hornies directly under the cab). I really don't think it is an exhaust system issue.
What do you mean by deaden the pan?

sound deadener. like dynamat. its a tar like matting that sticks to the floor pans and quiets up the inside a bit. it also seals the floor.
heres mine and my dads cars.
this is sound deadener AND insulation. then also the new carpet comes with MORE insulation on the bottom haha. so its triple sealed. oh and PLUS some dynamat strips incase whoever buys the insulation pack doesnt sound deaden the WHOLE floor also. but we did both.

heres mine. its only sound deadener at the moment. but once the "put back together" stage comes i will do the same as my dads. you can see my seat divider (which i bought from a fellow member, baddog671. its got diamond plating on the trunk side for looks)

Nice! Not wanting to rip my ride apart like you have...but I definitely am going to do the Dynamat in the trunk for sure. May take the seats out to install three-point belts, so could look at doing that at the same time. Thanks, man.
i highly suggest NOT getting dynamat. i campared the two, and the stuff i got is exactly the same thickness. its something like $500 for a whole dynamat kit. i think i spent about $80 for all the sound deadener i bought. got it from lowes. its called Peel'n'Seal. its pretty much window flashing.
but i know some members here have gotten killer dealers on some deadener that works just the same on ebay. but dont get dynamat or any other really expensive version. they all work the same.
and too be honest, it doesnt make a huge difference in quieting the inside. its just slightly. its knocks down the road noise but theres always gonna be wind noise. which is a lot of times what people think will disapear when they sound deaden the floor [&:]. it just gets rid of the "tinney" noise.
but im pretty sure its a insulator too. it will keep the heat out and keep it cool. or the other way around for winter.
