Lights Suck
Ever since I got my '65 Coupe, the blinkers and taillights have been dim to the point that people on the road around me lay on the horn because they don't think I am turning or stopping.
Had one person tell me to direct wire the headlights through relays. Any suggestions as to why the flashers and taillights are barely visible?

The reflectors are possibly rusted or just not reflective. Paint them white.
The bulbs will blacken on the inside, replace the lamps.
The connections will corode. Steel wool the sockets. Check the wire connections, clean them up.
My tail lights brightened up alot when I painted the reflectors white.

ive got a set of www.mustangproject.com tail lights they are led now you wanna talk about bright they are awesome
You have two problems. #1 the light is a single bulb that is not bright enough for todays standards. If you have the original lenses they are probaly cloudy. I don't think it's a wiring or alternator problem based on my results.
I replaced mine with a sequential/ LED set from Va Classic Mustang. They plug into the taillights socket and you replace the under dash flasher plug. About $125 and 1/2 hour. You have bright lights and the sequential is awesome. They also offer a non sequential. I shopped around, some kits require a lot of rewiring this kit was plug and go. Some kits had had a few LED's in the center this kit has LED's that cover the entire area. Also replace the lense's and bezels while you are at it.
You didn't ask but another thing I did was to repalce my under hood voltage regulator with a $15.00 electronic unit. It stopped the flickering headlight problem I had. They say you can take the stock cover off the old regulator and put it on the new one if you want the concours look.
