Shelby drop + coil cutting???
haha well idk what happened but im no small guy and i really wacked the pickle fork with the hammer it wouldnt budge, then i took automechanics in college and have never used one since normally 2-3 solid wacks and im golden
Don't use a pickle fork....unless you're planning on changing the ball joints anyway. And don't hammer on the ball joint stud either. You can make a spreader by getting two large bolts and the same size threaded connector. Just assemble the bolts in each of the connector and install between the upper and lower ball joint studs. Then using two wrenches, hold the connector still while turning the upper bolt to loosen, which will press on the stud and push it loose from the upper spindle.
That all being said, you don't have to remove the upper ball joint to do the Shelby drop, just remove the upper A arm bolts in the engine bay and pivot the upper arm out of the way.
And follow the directions on where to drill the holes for the relocation. It is different on a second generation car than a first.

Yeah we are kinda small. I was 16 and he was 15. We are both 16 now. I think all the hammering we did before loosened them.

So the "Shelby drop" is just where you relocate the upper control arms to lower mounting holes? Not to hijack or anything but can it be done on a 72? I want to drop the front at least 1"
It's "job" is to change the angle of the upper arm in order to provide more aggressive tire position during road racing. It doesn't lower the front much.
do yourself a favor, get some roller spring perches as well. 620's ride fine on 67-68's, I have them on my 67 vert with a full coil cut, shelby drop, GW UCA's and konis and mine rides really nice not harsh at all.
