68 fastback ground up build help
i'm prbably going to sound like a scrub (newb) for asking this, but I've never been good with transmission knowledge. I konw stick shift, paddle shift, and auto. Clutchless stick and all that I've never read up on or learned about. Full manual reverse valve body in an auto is new to me. Do you mind explaining? to me it sounds like the technical explination/set up for a clutchless stick but I'm probably wrong...
What makes you want a 69/70 mach 1 instead now? they are just as expensive if not more....
a 69/70 sportroof that is NOT a mach 1 will still be valuable but won't cost as much of a pretty penny as a Mach... Also it would be less blasphemous to the hardcore mustang community to modify that one to your liking into a resto-mod as compared to a mach (if you decide to restomod it) I just htink you would have more creative options with a non-correct sportroof.
and as for a DD, why don't you just get an 80's or early 90's 5.0??? Of course they don't have nearly the same look as a classic, but heck its a DD and it will have a 5.0 which is a great engine of course. And in your free time you can even modify that since a 5.0 is just a 302 and make a killer DD for way cheaper. Also you won't really have to deal with rust and as many problems (typically) if you get a 5.0 compared to a "beater" 65-73 stang.
just my .02

Many years ago (late 80's-early 90's) a poll was conducted by a either Popular Hot Rod or Car Craft magazine (I forget exactly which one) asking it's readers for the one muscle car that signified the ENTIRE muscle car era. A body style that exuded raw power, looked fast while standing still and captured everything "great" from the muscle car era. Each month, the magazine published a "feature car". BB Chevelles, Mopar SuperBees, SS Camaros, AMC Javelins.... all of the big muscle cars were well represented.
Most of the magazine articlesback then were orientated towards GM and Mopar muscle cars, occasionally there would be an article geared towards a Ford vehicle. So for the most part, the reading audience consisted of a minority of Ford readers.
The poll results ended with the 1970 Mustang Sportsroof body style blowing the rest of the competition out of the water. Readers across all genres agreed that if only one car was to represent their passion, it would be the Sportsroof.
Food for thought and ammunition for the next time someone trashes your 1970 Mustang Sportsroof bodystyle.

if i had more money and time i would definatly restore my 70, nothing beats teh look of a 70 mach 1 IMO. always wanted to make the front scoops functional.
70>67 anyday.

i thought about that too... maybe a functionalvacuum actuatorinside to open and close it when needed, like with a shaker...

i was thinking more like a similar style mesh screen, with a trap pipe to duct air to the front brakes.
another idea i had was to cut through the fender wells and connect the ducts to the air cleaner. like a ram air system.
i only think that would work with a regualr boss style hood scoop or no hood scoop. shaker would be redundant.
