the mach 1 im selling is in the classifieds section here on the forum
its orange

also you could in theory modify the front end of a 70 and put the 69 headlamps in. but those are not foglamps

the inner lights on a 69 are the high beams, the 70 has two filiment bulb.

also on the engine if you stroke a 302 you can make 500 if you really wanted to for under 5k

be my guest and spend 9-12k,

id rather spend 12 k on a complete driving car than a motor with no car
unles your parents are dropping checks for you, you need to be more realistic in your approach.
there are alot of older gentlemen on here that would laugh at you for tlaking about a 12k crate engine. for 5k you can completely strip down a 302, bore and stroke it, and put top of the line heads, manifolds and a nice 700 cfm carb and a strong cam to make 500.

but thats your thing. last time i checked if you worked 20 hours a week and made 10 bucks an hour your making 200 bucks a week, thats 10k a year

so basically if you go it alone your looking at one year for your motor
one year for your suspsension
one year for your body
one year for your interior and electrical
one year for your wheels and tires and brakes

thats a five year build, assuming you put all the parts you keep posting on the car,

not trying to be negative just making sure you understand what yoru saying

so for five years you have no mustang. during high school you get to talk about the sick car your building instead of driving a more realistic car like BAs or my coupe.

to each his own

ok thanks for the tip. I like the little essays like that because you always learn something. As I'm looking into it, the 69-70 Mach is going to be later on too because all of them are either restored and out of the price range to in the price range and then some but a rusted shell. I think I'm going to go back to a 72-73 beater stang' that runs and then start a nice build.

yea, the 12k one is a 650 hp Big block but thats besides the point. I'll look into stroking the engines myself. That's probably how I'll do it. Huh, funny thing i just researched porting rotory engines (equivilent of stroking a piston engine). Of coarse that suspension set up I talked about is 5k..... definantly planned in the long run.

thanks for the help. I'll probably be back tomarrow after workwith more questions

68 fastback lover

where are you located. let us know so we can keep a look out for you for good deals

check the classifieds on here for some good tips and then try craigslist

youd be surprised what pops up

ebay i would leave for a last resort

and if you plan on buying anything go look at it in person. if you cant get literaly 50-60 high resolution pics and an independent inspection.

Haha I should have expected something like that. Same thing comes up when I bring up Stang's on the RX7 forums. Mustangs lay tuners out but they are still fun little cars. My friend has a late 80's RX7 that we're porting, thats why I researched it (so don't be hatin)

Im in downers grove, IL. It's a western suburb of chicago. I was thinking of asking you guys to keep an eye out but some people get pissy

I've checked craigslist's in southern wisconsin, and northern indiana.I'd be willing to hit up southeastern michigan, too. For the wisconsin area, my sister is at school at madison so thats about how far north I'll go. thanks so much for keeping an eye open. I really appreciate it.

P.S.

my parents agreed to cover a little for me if the deal is too good to pass but i can't afford it so i'd say about 6k to spend...

im not

i love r x7s

i hate rotaries

they work great in theory, less rotational mass, higher rpm range and smaller displacement

but they heat unevenly in the same spot on the block therefore the block eventually will crack and be useless, not to mention you get no torque out of them because they are so small.

Yup. after 75k miles you have to watch the apex seals.

I personally love the look of the FD, the 93+ RX7.

The thing is, I'm about anti- GM as a person can get, so an LS* swap would be out of the question if i were ever to buy a rex. I'd be stuck with the rotory. They give off a nice sound though, as long as you don't have a ricey exhaust.....

hah, I notice lately that I have ricer senses. My ricer senses are heightened and then on cue a ricy****box cruises by.....its a gift haha.

I updated that last post to answer your questions too.

yes I second that, driving my mustang through high school was much more fun than talking about a car no one will probably ever see until the re if you still have it. I talked about it and showed some friends the car and work i had done the first two years untill I got my license and showed it off.

Everyone knew me by that car, its sound, its looks, and the *** i kicked every once in awhile to put some kids in their place. People all over annapolis know me by that car. when people even just hear it, they know its me.

it is definetly an experience you'll never forget (and did i mention the girls you attract in a bad *** muscle car)

I have a 1968 mustang coupe, acapulco blue with a white c-stripe, 289, bored over .30",headers, 4 bbl, c4,2.5" duals, beautiful car.

P.S. know that a stroker and a manual transmission won't be fun in traffic or everyday driving. It will get old fast. learn to drive, learn your town, get the feel of things. you know that being able to drive your car comfortably every day if you want is better than anything. more racy or show type cars are better for saturday nights or every once in awhile driving. it keeps the passion alive and the adrenaline rushing.

Yea, I always wanted a manual trans for the ability to control the shifting times, and the fact that shifting in a fast car like that always has a badass edge over auto's, but I think an automatic will work better for around town.

you could always do an auto, but full manual (reverse) valve body if you want to shift it all the time. it's a lot easier than a manual, even for around town. my brother has a full manual reverse valve body 727 in his 1970 dart and it isn't all that bad to drive around town. It's actually pretty fun.
