TKO 600 in a 65 install help
I'm assuming I'll need custom carpet for mine.
I had to cut out most of the transmission support memberthat goes in the tunnel(above where I attached the new metal) so I made a 2" X 1/8" strap and welded it around the inside to provide some support.

Well,,, no one ever acused me of looking for the hard way to do things,,, in that vein of thought, we simply dropped the rear crossmember about an inch and a half....
Frankly, I think that any pinion angle difference from stock is so small to not even be a factor..... and the stock carpet fits just fine....

Well at first I thought the same thing. After reading an article form Tremec (and a few others) I made the decision to cut the tunnel. The stock 65 carpet doesn't fit well with the larger tunnel but I plan to order 67-8 carpet as it needs to be a differnet color anyway. Maybe I've waisted my time enlarging the tunnel but, if the pinion angle is truely a factorwith viberation,U jointwear and safety, then I will have saved myself a whole lot of time and maybe a accident. And if a viberation occured had without lowering it,then I would still haveto go back and do everything over. Another thought I had was, if the car is lowered more than stock, then the angle is even more, I plan to lower this one 2 inches in the back. Once I have temped the engine and tranny in (TKO), I will take note of the angles, with and without raising the tunnel.
