TKO 600 in a 65 install help
I need some photos of a TKO in a 65 install. I have put these in 7 & 8's but I understand that a 5 or 6 the tunnel has to be raised from 1.5 inches to 2" as not to create too much pinion angle. Now is a great timefor me to do this while the car is on the rotisserie and I'm still on metal work.
Try this.

Not a 65 but pretty cool.

I am looking to put a tko600 in my 67. I've heard there are mods required to the tunnel. What experience have you had putting the tko600 in a 67? Can it fit without mod to the tunnel?

The 7 and 8's are easy. I did'nt raise the tunnel but lowered the engine a little and the pinion angle was about 1.25* or so. It seems the 5 and 6's are smaller in the tunnelarea. I will go ahead and plan to raise it 2 inches and plan to use the stock motor mounts. On the 7 and 8's I did have to cut the opening for the shifter a little and fabed the tranny mounts myself. I used a Hurst shift handle and mounted it on the drivers side of the stem. They work very well.
there was a member on this forum that did that swap. yellow coupe, full restomod. was setting it up for the hotrod power tour a year or 2 ago. also known to hang out on that other MF forum with the V in front
. I can see the car! Cant remember the name. there was a full write up on the conversion and i remember a pic of 1 of his mates with his head poking up thru the tunnel hole...i'll get it sooner or later.

Starfury, I know you said you can stick weld just fine, but if you can do that then you should be able to MIG. I learned how to stick weld first (still not very good at that, although I can do it) and to me the MIG is so much easier. One you set the welder, just pul the trigger and watch it burn. I think you could probably learn pretty easily! Have some faith in yourself!
My set up is a tko 500 in a 66 coupe.
I ordered the kit from Keisler I think they relocate the shifter to keep mods to a min.
The only thing I did was take about a dollar bill sized cut out oft the cross brace under neath and cut about a 1/4" out of the hole facing the fire wall.

Yeh the MIG is easier than a stick. On the 65, I went ahead and raised the tunnel today for the TKO. About 2 inches in all. I lack about 30 minutes of fitting and welding. Now for a test fit.

Eh, I'm not horrible with mig, I just can't lay down beads like I can with stick. Oh well, not like I have anywhere to put a welder anyway, let alone can I afford one...
That looks like what I did to put in a TR-3650 from an 06 Mustang GT. The shifter is behind the transmission so it sits right at the front of the seat. My tunnel is a little higher than yours.
